Air Conditioning

2 Day Basic Refrigeration

This hands-on class is designed to bring new employees and those who have not serviced A/C in a very long time back into the A/C repair fold. All facets of the basic refrigeration system are discussed and then practiced on live vehicles. Refrigerants, components, the refrigeration cycle, air flow and heat absorption/removal, leak testing, leak repair, component replacement, oil balancing, evacuation, and charging. Pressure Diagnosis and Leak Detection are covered in depth. Undiagnosed leaks are the main reason for comebacks after an A/C repair has been made. Compressor replacement and flushing are also included in this class. Upon completion of this class, students will be able to identify a refrigeration system issue, diagnose leaks, operate recovery equipment, evacuate, charge, and performance test R134a and HFO1234yf system.
To participate, students will require safety glasses, safety boots, work gloves and a current Ozone Depletion card.

This class is designed for the licensed technician/apprentice who is already servicing HVAC systems. System theory and operation will be covered in class and then reinforced with hands-on exercises in the shop.

Throughout the class, equipment ideas, pattern failures, service and diagnostic tips are shared as each topic or component is covered in the classroom and the shop. The intended learning outcomes from the class include a better understanding of the refrigeration system, improved quality of repairs, as well as enhanced diagnostic abilities and critical thinking skills.

Topics covered include a refrigeration circuit review, belt-driven compressors, lubrication, dryers, expansion valves (testing/service), accumulators, modern condensers (design, sub-cooling), oil balancing and closed-loop flushing, modern performance enhancements, equipment maintenance, performance testing (pressure/temperature), variable displacement compressors, leak detection methods, HFO12434yf introduction (equipment, service), electric compressors and special procedures.

To participate, students will require safety glasses, safety boots, work gloves and a current Ozone Depletion card.

8 hour A/C Refresher and Update

Other

4 Hour HFO 1234yf Update

This 4 hour class will familiarize experienced A/C technicians with HFO 1234yf refrigerant and systems. The class will discuss the characteristics of 1234yf, refrigerant identification, leak detection, system operation, evacuation, recharge issues, and RRR machines. Pattern failures are identified and discussed.
To participate, students will require safety glasses, safety boots, work gloves and a current Ozone Depletion card.
